The La Liga giants are looking to sign a new striker this summer

Atetico Madrid are expected to add reinforcements in key areas this summer after falling behind Barcelona in La Liga and a poor campaign in the Champions League this season. Their priority is to sign a new striker.

Fernando Torres will leave the club at the end of the season and Antoine Griezmaan is still continuously linked with a move to Barcelona this summer, who are ready to pay his buyout clause. Diego Simeone wants to sign a new striker who can partner Diego Costa upfront, if the France International is sold.

Atletico Madrid have made contact with representatives of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero regarding a possible return to Spain, reports Marca. Argentina International is their preferred option, with the striker having previously spent five productive years with the club before heading to England.

The 29 year old joined the La Liga giants in 2006 from Independiente. Despite not being as prolific in front of goal during the first few seasons but he was impressive with his overall display. 2010-2011 season was the most successful campaign for him, scoring 20 league goals.

Aguero joined Manchester City in 2011 and has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world. But under Pep Guardiola he hasn’t featured as much as he would have liked to and has been linked to a summer exit.

Aguero is understood not to have dismissed the option of a return according to reports. But he is likely to make a decision after World Cup.
