Chelsea told to drop interest in star
Atletico Madrid have informed Chelsea that Antoine Griezmann is NOT for sale for any price.
The Blues have been strongly linked with making a formal move for the Frenchman over the Summer, but the La Liga side have told them to forget about it as they have no intentions of selling.
Atletico and Chelsea Business
Atletico sold two of their stars to Chelsea last Summer as Diego Costa and Filipe Luis both completed the switch, but they did prevent Diego Godin and Koke from also joining the West London outfit, and they are now prepared to do the same with Griezmann.
According to numerous reports, Chelsea were lining up a sensational £43million bid for the winger, as they look to replace outgoing Juan Cuadrado and Oscar, who are both reportedly set to be shown the door at Stamford Bridge.
However, Atletico have finally responded to the reports and have told Chelsea to drop their interest in their star as he is not for sale and won’t be going anywhere this Summer.
Not For Sale
Club president, Enrique Cerezo, has said: “Fans can now dream but I think the team is very good. We’re going to make two or three purchases. Griezmann? He is not for sale.”
The 24-year-old has only been at Atletico for a year after making his £24m switch from Real Sociedad, but in his debut season, Griezmann netted 22 goals in 37 La Liga appearances.
Release Clause
The winger has a £43m release clause in his contract and it was reported that Jose Mourinho would be prepared to activate the clause, but he has since then rubbished those claims.
Chelsea are also showing interest in Gareth Bale and Raheem Sterling.
