After Real Madrid payed a world record fee for Welsh midfielder Gareth Bale, the expectations were high as he would partner Ronaldo and Isco in a strong attack. But Madrid haven’t been in impressive form in La Liga, stuck in third place, six points behind barcelona and three behind city rivals Atletico Madrid.

However, their European form has been very impressive, as they top their group by 7 points with a game remaining. Their attack showed real signs of promise and Gareth Bale showed his class to score a stunning free-kick in Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Galatasaray.

Bale told ‘Ask Men’: “Cristiano’s been great since I’ve been here and helped me a lot,”

“I think the partnership we’re creating on the pitch is very positive. We’re looking forward to that getting better and better in the future.”

The Welshman also backed his team-mate to beat Lionel Messi and Franck Ribery to the Ballon D’Or. “Ronaldo is the best player in the world at the moment,” he added. “I think he’s on another level to everyone else. He’s show in every single game what he’s capable of and he just delivers every week. He’s the best and deserves the Ballon d’Or.”
