Gareth Bale is still a key player at Real Madrid, insists Santiago Solari.

The Welshman has gone down the pecking order with Vinicius Junior stepping up in his place in recent times.

Real Madrid manager Santiago Solari has insisted that winger Gareth Bale is still a key player at the club. The Welshman has been kept out of the starting lineup for quite some time by the manager who has opted to go with Vinicius Junior. The young Brazilian has responded well to his manager’s faith and has worked diligently to cement his place in the Real Madrid squad. The player also started against Barcelona in the El Clasico defeat in the semi-final of the Copa Del Rey ahead of the Welsh forward. Bale was brought on as a second-half substitute to replace Lucas Vazquez.

Speaking about the players who remain benched, Solari added, “They are still important, titles are won by whole squads. Bale has played in every game since returning from injury and he is scoring goals. He did it in the Club World Cup and in the Champions League final too.”

He added, “I have nothing to say to the fans. Everyone knows what Bale can do and they know what he has given to the club. The fans express themselves with great respect.”
