Barcelona are pushing to sign Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.
The club has already been linked with a host of new forwards in the winter window but signing a new midfielder is also on their wishlist.
Summer signing Oriol Romeu is expected to leave this January after failing to hit the ground running in his second spell at Camp Nou.
Barcelona sporting director Deco has identified Douglas Luiz as their next primary target who has been established as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
The former Manchester City midfielder is enjoying an excellent 2023/24 campaign registering six goals and five assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
According to reports, Deco has scouted the Brazilian defender on several occasions during his trips to England and has now placed Luiz at the top of Barca’s wishlist.
Since moving to Aston Villa from Manchester City in 2019, Luiz’s market value has skyrocketed from €10 million to €60 million in the last four years.
Barcelona are vying for the midfielder’s signature but will face a tough battle with Arsenal who are the favourites to land the Brazil international.
The 25-year-old midfielder would cost more than his market value of €60 million, so it will be interesting to see where the Brazilian lands in 2024.
