It has been just 6 months since Paulinho left Barcelona to mark his return to the Chinese Super League and the La Liga side has already been linked with yet another player from the Far East.

Latest reports claim that Barcelona are eyeing up a move for Changchun Yatai striker, Odion Ighalo. The 29-year-old has scored 36 goals in his 55 appearances for the Chinese outfit since making his ÂŁ20m switch from Watford two years back.

Ighalo was a highly admired figure at Vicarage Road with 40 goals registered for the club across 3 seasons. He opted for a high financial switch to Asia in January 2017 but is now eager to make his return to European football.

Barcelona is considering him to serve as a backup forward behind Luis Suarez now that Munir El Haddadi has been transferred off to Sevilla. Paco Alcacer’s loan spell with Borussia Dortmund has turned out to be a massive success which can provoke the Bundesliga side to opt for the buy-back clause after this season.

Suarez who is about to turn 32 this month is still Ernesto Valverde’s firm choice at the number nine spot but might require some help for the remainder of the campaign. Barcelona’s proposition can turn out to be far too good for Ighalo to turn down at this stage of his career.
