Niko Kovac will replace Jupp Heynckes next season

Former Bayern Munich defender Niko Kovac is set to rejoin the club as head coach, according to Bild.

Bayern Munich are looking for a new manager as Jupp Heynckes will leave the club at the end of the season. After the sacking of manager Carlo Ancelloti last year , Heynckes returned for the fourth time to manage them. He signed a contract until the end of the 2017-2018 season.

Bayern’s priority is to sign a German speaking manager and has already approached former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel, but the offer was declined. Tuchel has already agreed  terms with  a club, which is most likely to be PSG.

According to latest reports in Germany, Bayern have decided to appoint Eintracht Frankfurt manager Kovac at the end of the season. He also used to play for them from 2001-2003.

The ex-Croatia international is winning many admirers with his work in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt. Last season they finished 11th in the season but this season they are currently at the 5th position, giving a surprise push for Champions League qualification. He was capped 83 times by Croatia and also managed the Croatia National Team in the 2014 World Cup.

And his record, added to his knowledge of the Bavarian giants, appear to have tipped the balance in Kovac’s favour as Bayern prepare to announce the successor to interim boss Jupp Heynckes for the coming season.
