The player heavily linked with an exit in the summer

Jerome Boateng joined Bayern Munich from Manchester City for a fee of €13.5 million on a four-year deal in 2011. He has been a mainstay in the defense since joining the club, making over 260 appearances and winning six Bundesliga titles and a Champions League to go with numerous other trophies.

The German International was a key player for the Bundesliga giants last season, making 31 appearances in all competitions and helped them to win their 6th consecutive league title.

The centre-back though cast some doubt over his future by admitting that he may look for new challenges and could potentially leave the club this summer. However, he is contracted with the club until the summer of 2021.

The defender was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United as Jose Mourinho prioritized signing a top class centre-back. But the move never materialized as the Premier League transfer deadline passed.

He was also heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain and interest in him build steadily when he returned from the World Cup. It looked like he will join the Ligue 1 champions but a deal never went through.

The 30 old even admitted that both the clubs were interested in signing him and confirmed that he even held talks with Mourinho only to reject him afterwards. He also insisted that he have no regrets that the club blocked his transfer.

Boateng wants to have a sit-down with the Bayern Munich hierarchy to repair their relationship in the wake of his failed transfer.

“I think we should talk again in the near future – that’s what we have set out to do – it’s important for me to make it clear once again that I’m fully focused on FC Bayern,” He told Sueddeutsche Zeitung as quoted by Goal.
