Chelsea veteran Frank Lampard is close to agreeing a new 12-month deal at the club.

The Blues have already extended John Terry’s stay at Stamford Bridge, and they are set to keep Lampard for at least another year as well, despite allowing left-back Ashley Cole to leave the club after spending eight-years with the club.

Due to the club’s strict over-30 policy, players are only allowed to be offered 12-month deals, and after Terry signed on the dotted line, all focus turned on the English midfielder, who was close to leaving last Summer when Roman Abramovich wanted him to leave.

However, a year later, the club are now working on a new deal for the 35-year-old and are keen to see him stay for at least another year as they don’t want to face losing two of their veteran English stars.

It’s believed Lampard will have to take a pay-cut from his current ÂŁ150k-a-week deal, but a source close to him has revealed that he is feeling happy about the future.

“Frank is feeling very positive about the whole thing. He fully expects his Chelsea future to be resolved at some point next week before he flies off to Brazil.

“He is not looking at any other option other than spending next season at Stamford Bridge.”
