Abdul Baba Rahman set to become Jose Mourinho’s third signing this summer
Chelsea are close to completing a four-year deal for Ghanian left-back Baba Rahman for an initial fee of £14million, according to The Sun.
Baba Rahman, 21, is expected to be revealed as a Chelsea player later today, penning a four-year deal worth £76,000 a week.
German side Augsburg are expected to received £14m up front for the sale of the defender but the fee could rise to £21.7m, depending on performances.
The 21-year-old will strengthen Jose Mourinho‘s options at left-back after selling Filipe Luis back to Atletico Madrid, just a year after joining the Premier League champions.
Rahman’s Development
Rahman‘s career has come a long way in a very short period of time since he began his senior career in 2011.
His playing days started with Ghanian club Asante Kotoko before moving to German side Greuther Furth in 2012.
He spent two seasons there before moving to Augsburg and helped them to Europa League football last campaign.
Rahman has made 11 international appearances and will be hoping for a bright future at Chelsea with fellow Ghanian youngster Christian Atsu, who is currently on a season-long loan at Bournemouth.
