Chelsea demand £100 million from Real Madrid to sell Eden Hazard

Chelsea have warned Real Madrid that they will have to set a new club-record to get their hands on Eden Hazard this summer.

Hazard has 18 months remaining in his contract, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the upcoming season and the Belgian international has so far refused to put pen to paper on a new deal.

The 27-year-old has kept his burning desire of completing a dream move to Real Madrid no secret, which, according to Hazard, will help him compete with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe for the Ballon d’Or.

Hazard looked set to head for the exit door at Stamford Bridge  after the World Cup but new manager Maurizio Sarri, reportedly, persuaded him to stay. The Belgian has made it clear that he will wait till the end of the season to make a decision on his future, by which point, he will have 12 months remaining on his current contract.

Hazard’s market value would depreciate considerably by that point, which would put Chelsea in a weakened position of getting a good bargain, but the Blues will still demand at least £100 million to let go of their prized asset.

Chelsea have already signed Christian Pulisic in January but the American international wasn’t bought as a replacement for Eden Hazard. The Blues are prepared to make the Belgian their highest paid player ever by offering him a new £300,000-a-week contract but it remains to be seen whether the talisman commits his long term future at Stamford Bridge by signing a new deal.
