In a surprising turn of events, Chelsea has been linked with former Newcastle United player, Florian Thauvin.
The 25-year-old has hit a rich vein of form this season, netting in 13 times in 18 appearances for Olympique Marseille but he was a massive flop at Tyneside. Thauvin signed with the Magpies on a 5-year deal in 2015 and was bid adieu after just two seasons and 13 Premier League appearances.
Granted the player has matured over into the years and is currently one of the top players in Ligue 1 but is he the right man for this newly shaped Chelsea side? According to Calciomercato, the Maurizio Sarri might face stiff competition from Inter Milan for the €45m-rated attacker.
Chelsea are strongly competing for a top-four Premier League spot and could use a few reinforcements on the attacking front. Thauvin finished the previous season with 26 goals and 18 assists to help his team to the finals of the UEFA Europa League.
He has 7 caps to his name for the France national team and was also selected into the final 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The attacking midfielder might just be ready to make a return to the Premier League but he is due to face strong competition for game time if he is to enter this Chelsea side.
Latest reports claim that teams like Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid have also expressed interest in Thauvin.
