Blues want to wait for Alexandre Pato to be fit and to get crunch week over with

Chelsea are preventing Loic Remy from leaving the club because they want to wait until Alexandre Pato is match-fit and until their crunch week is past them.

The French striker was heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window, but a proposed move to Leicester City fell through due to the two clubs not agreeing on the type of deal.

Remy wanted a loan-move, whilst Chelsea wanted to sell him permanently in order to raise £12million.

However, Remy could still be set for a move away from West London, with Chinese clubs interested in signing him. The transfer window in China slams shut at the end of February, meaning they have a couple of weeks to strike up a deal.

Chelsea Stalling

Despite the striker himself being desperate for a move, Chelsea are stalling the deal because they don’t want to lose their back-up option ahead of a crucial double-header.

The Blues take on Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Last-16 next week, and then host Manchester City in the FA Cup, and with new signing Pato not yet fit, they don’t want to lose Remy and be left with just Diego Costa.

As soon as Pato is match fit, it’s believed then Chelsea will allow Remy to leave.
