Talismanic Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge will miss Sunday’s match against Hull after sustaining a sprained ankle and leaving the training ground on crutches.
Liverpool boss, Brenden Rodgers will face a nervous wait to find out the full extent of the injury, he was sent for X-rays amid fears that he may have done some ligament damage. It comes in a training session where fellow Liverpool player Martin Skrtel sustained cuts to his shin after a meaty challange with winger Jordan Ibe.
This news comes at a tough time for Liverpool with games away at Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea fast approaching, Rodgers still belives that Liverpool have the quality to gain top four status. ‘They are all testing games but I would expect us to last the pace,’ said Rodgers.
‘We have difficult games over Christmas but we’ll work hard. Look at our record this calendar year. We are hard to beat. If we’re not at our best and winning, we’re fighting to the death to get a result. That’s something that’s in the group now that maybe wasn’t when I first came in.’
