Crystal Palace keen on Liverpool youngster Dominic Solanke

If reports are to be believed, Crystal Palace have set their sights on 21-year-old Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke for a possible loan move in January. The England U21 international is yet to make a single appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side this term and Roy Hodgson has identified the youngster has a possible solution to bolster his misfiring attack.

Solanke made his move to Anfield from Chelsea at the start of the last season with the hope of getting more first-team action. He was used sparingly in the Premier League by Klopp last term and made 5 starts, playing a total of 583 minutes across 21 appearances. The 21-year-old bagged a goal and an assist for Liverpool last season.

The 21-year-old has a single cap for England at the senior level and he is keen to add to that tally, an unrealistic dream if he continues to warm the benches at Liverpool. Hence, a loan move to Selhurst Park in January will be a win-win situation for all parties involved.

Crystal Palace have struggled to make an impact this season with goals, having scored only 14 goals from 17 games in the Premier League. The Eagles have been hit hard by the long-term knee injury to Christian Benteke while Conor Wickham has also spent a lot of time on the sidelines.

Andros Townsend has blown hot and cold and Wilfried Zaha has been left to feed on scraps, cutting a frustrated figure up front due to lack of creativity from the midfielders. Swansea City loanee Jordan Ayew and youngster Alexander Sorloth have also underwhelmed, leaving Hodgson short of options up front.

Roy Hodgson is known for his ability to get the best out of youngsters and Dominic Solanke might follow the footsteps of Ruben Loftus-Cheek whose fruitful loan spell at Palace last season earned him a call-up to England’s World Cup squad.
