Crystal Palace Plotting A Move For Danny Welbeck

Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck as Roy Hodgson wants to add some firepower to his attack.

Welbeck has been more than a backup option for Unai Emery as the English international has repaid the faith of his manager whenever he has been used this season. Despite starting just six games this season in all competitions the 27 year old has netted five goals so far.

Wenger signed the player from Manchester United back in 2014 for a fee of £16m but since then the forward hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular starter. Persistent injury problems halted his development but the player has shown flashes of brilliance this season.

Goals have dried up for Hodgson and the gaffer is in desperate need of some reinforcements in the January transfer window. The team seems to be very reliant on Wilfried Zaha and Welbeck’s arrival could ease the pressure on the player.

Welbeck’s contract is scheduled to expire at the end of this season and Arsenal would be looking recoup some of the money they invested in the player. Palace are believed to be ready to spend as much as £10m and with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette at his disposal Emery shouldn’t have any problem in letting the player leave.
