In the latest report published in the German newspaper Der Spiegel it has been claimed Pep Guardiola had signed his Manchester City contract four months before the official announcement.
Guardiola was appointed to replace current West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini and took charge three seasons ago. His first success eventually came in his second season whn he guided the side to the Premier League title with the Sky Blues breaking the record 100 point barrier.
City announced the signing of Guardiola on February 1, 2016 but according to that report the agreement had been signed specifically on October 10, 2015, when he was managing Bayern Munich in Germany.
It is not yet clear whether the German club were aware of this development or the deal was signed without informing the Bundesliga outfit. The German publication also said it had been agreed the Spanish manager would receive £13.5m in salary for the first season and it will rise to £16.75m in the next season.
City have refused to entertain such news and have already made a statement. “The attempt to damage the club’s reputation is organized and clear.”
Pep Guardiol’s side are currently well positioned in the Premier League as they are sitting pretty comfortably in the top place.
