Mathieu Debuchy has confirmed that he will be joining Arsenal after reports emerged that the Gunners have agreed a £7.9m fee with Newcastle for his services. The defender has been linked with a move to the Emirates for the past week, with boss Arsene wenger in need of a new right-back after Bacary Sagna’s move to Man City.
Now, with reports claiming a deal has been agreed, the player himself has admitted he will be joining Arsenal. He told TF1 television after France’s World Cup exit:
“Yes, I will be joining Arsenal for next season.”
Debuchy refused to go into any further details about the move at the time, but it is now expected that he will undergo a medical in the next few days.
