Dubravka reiterates desire to stay at Newcastle amid Juventus interest

Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has made it clear that he wants to stay at his current club to help them fight the relegation battle amidst interest from Juventus.

The Czech Republic international impressed on loan between the sticks in the second half of the last season, prompting Benitez to sign him permanently from Sparta Prague in the summer.

The 29-year-old has been in prime form between the sticks this season and his heroics have attracted interest from Serie A giants who are apparently impressed by his shot-stopping abilities.

The Magpies currently sit 15th in the Premier League standings, level on points with Burnley and Cardiff City and two points clear of Southampton in the relegation zone. And Dubravka has expressed his desire to stay at St. James’ Park to focus on his job between the sticks to save the club from relegation.

“I am very happy here. To be honest, I am completely focused on my job here and that is what I am concentrating on right now,” he told the Newcastle Chronicle.

“I know a lot of people have been asking me if I will stay or not, but I am happy now and I am not thinking about any other club.

“For me, I am just focused 100 per cent on doing my job for Newcastle United and making sure we stay in the Premier League.”

Newcastle’s next game is away at Chelsea on Saturday.
