Wanyama played for the Premier League side from 2016.
Now he will continue his career in the MLS.
Montreal Impact have signed Kenyan international midfielder Victor Wanyama as a designated player after a free transfer on Tuesday with Tottenham Hotspur. He has agreed to a three-year contract and will join the club upon receiving his international transfer certificate and passing his medical.
“When I spoke to [Impact coach] Thierry Henry and he told me he wanted me to join him in Montreal, I didn’t have to think twice,” Wanyama said in an official statement.
“He has always been a player that I’ve admired, and I am really happy to get the opportunity to work with him and to play a part that can ensure that the Montreal Impact have an improved season and hopefully reach the ultimate stages of the competitions in which we compete.”
The 28-year-old player played four seasons with Tottenham, where he had six goals and one assist in 69 regular-season games. He was part of the team that reached the 2018-19 Champions League final, appearing in five games in the knockout stage and starting three. He was unfortunately now used in the final against Liverpool.
