Kane’s jokes on Christmas menu, Pochettino hails Walker-Peters
England captain Harry Kane has joked that Tottenham’s 5-0 demolition of Bournemouth on Boxing Day might have something to do with their Christmas menu on the training ground.
Spurs followed up a 6-2 hammering of Everton last week with another comprehensive 5-0 drubbing of Eddie Howe’s men to climb up to 2nd in the standings. Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son, Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura got their names on the scoresheet as the Lilywhites continued their impressive run in the Premier League.
And the England captain believes roast turkey could hold the secret to his side’s free-scoring form.
“We’ll have to have turkey before every game,” he tweeted after the match.
The game also marked a wonderful debut for youngster Kyle Walker-Peters who was given his first start of the Premier League this season by Pochettino. Walker-Peters claimed the assists for each of Spurs’ three first-half goals as Christian Eriksen, Son and Moura knocked the stuffing out of Bournemouth.
The manager spoke of the youngster in glowing terms and he believes that Walker-Peters can become a key player for the club in the days to come.
“Our confidence in him is so high and he only needs time to show his quality and match time to try to compete for a place in the starting XI,” said Pochettino.
“We really believe in him and we’re sure that he’s going to be an important player in the future for Tottenham.”
