Italian side tracking wantaway Chelsea star- but Liverpool remain favourites.

Roma are keeping their eye on wantaway Chelsea defender Gary Cahill.

The central defender reportedly wants to leave Stamford Bridge to get more playing time, due to his concerns about his place in the England team.

Cahill has not played in the Premier League since Boxing Day and his last Chelse appearence was on January 10th in the FA Cup vs Scunthorpe, but since then French defender Kurt Zouma appears to have taken his place in the side.

He faces competition for places in the England starting lineup, with Man Utd’s Chris Smalling and Everton’s John Stones all in the frame. And according to Italian Media, Roma are on the lookout for a new centre-back, with boss Walter Sabatini considering all options across Europe.

However, a major factor in whether or not this deal goes ahead could be Cahill’s wages, with Liverpool, the current favourites to sign him, being the most likely to be able to match what Chelsea are paying him.
