Dutch midfielder says his old boss needs to win something next term:

Former Netherlands international Mark Van Bommel says that his former manager Louis Van Gaal, must win a trophy next season.

The Red Devils concluded the 2014/15 campaign trophyless, however United did secure a fourth place finish in the Premier League, meaning Champions League football will return to Old Trafford, after a year hiatus.

And Van Bommel, who played under Van Gaal at Bayern Munich, revealed that his old manager must be successful next term.

Van Bommel who had played in a legends Charity match at Old Trafford, told Shoot Magazine: “At United, you have big pressure, he needs to win something next year, but it is always difficult, given the competition in England.”

Van Bommel foresees Depay success:

Now aged 38, the midfielder, who also played for Barcelona and AC Milan during his career, also had his say on Manchester United’s latest recruit, Memphis Depay.

Depay, 22, completed a ÂŁ31m move to Old Trafford from PSV Eindhoven last week – and Van Bommel believes that his compatriot will settle in well at Old Trafford.

“He’s made a good step, he is too good for the Dutch league.

“Depay has the qualities to play well, and he has the potential. It is always an advantage when you know the manager as well.”

Mark Van Bommel was speaking following the Manchester United Foundation All-stars game between Manchester United and Bayern Munich, at Old Trafford on Sunday.
