Veteran Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has said that the players are still learning Maurizio Sarri’s style of play. The Italian appeared to offer his support to the Juve boss following a mixed preseason.

Sarri succeeded Maximiliano Allegri as the head coach of the Bianconeri, after having a solitary spell at Chelsea. During his time at the Stamford Bridge, he guided the Blues to the Europa League triumph, a third-place finish in the Premier League and a runner-up place in the Carabao Cup.

Speaking about Sarri’s approach and tactics, Chiellini said,

“This group are still in training mode.

“We’re trying to get to grips with the demands of our Coach. There are some new faces and we must surely get going.

“We have 10 days left, our last friendly before the start of the season on Saturday will be important. After that, we must start to get serious.

“This team have always given answers when they’ve needed to, but now it’ll be necessary to change gear.

“We must be aware that, as of next week, we must change it up a bit because we’ll be starting to get serious.”

Following a disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid in their last friendly game, the Bianconeri will kickstart their Serie A campaign against Parma.
