Callum McGregor says that he will give everything for the team wherever he is asked to play

Callum McGregor is currently one of the most versatile players at Celtic, having played as an attacking midfielder, holding midfielder and also as a left-back under Brendan Rodgers in times of need.

McGregor helped the Hoops get off to a positive start in the Scottish Premiership after the winter break, scoring the opener in his team’s 3-0 victory over Hamilton on Saturday.

Celtic could have had more goals but for the heroics of Hamilton goalkeeper Ryan Fulton who made an array of fine saves to deny Rodgers’ men, however, the three points were enough to send Celtic three points clear of Kilmarnock at the top.

And McGregor has reiterated his commitment to the club, saying that he is ready to play in any position and give his best for the team.

“When you’re asked to play different positions your function in the team changes,” said McGregor. “When you’re playing a bit deeper, the onus isn’t on you to score as many goals. But when you start playing a little further forward, you try and chip in with a goal or two and try and help on that side of things as well. Whenever I play, I try to give my best and give what that role requires.

“Fulton had a good game. We always try and score early here which helps keep the crowd on-side and keeps the whole atmosphere going. When you don’t get that first one early-doors, then it can start to get that little bit edgy.

“Thankfully, we were able to stick to our task, and keep playing the way that we always want to play. We got our chance, we took it, and we got a couple of late goals to sweeten it up for us.”
