Weah ‘in love’ with Celtic after leaving PSG on loan

Timothy Weah is looking forward to his debut at Celtic

Timothy Weah, the son of former Ballon d’Or winner George Weah and now President of Liberia, says that he is in love with Celtic after completing a loan move from PSG.

Weah, 18, is set to spend the rest of the 2018-19 campaign with Brendan Rodgers’ side and is looking forward to life at his new club. The youngster is very excited and is keen to make an immediate impact, with the upcoming Scottish Cup fixture at home against Airdrieonians on January 19 expected to mark his debut.

“I am in love with Celtic so I am really happy,” he told BBC Sport. “It was a great feeling getting to know a new team and new coaching staff. I can’t wait to get on the field and play in front of those wonderful fans.

“It is a wonderful moment for me, and such a blessing with such a great coach like Brendan Rodgers to lead me in the right direction. He and rest of the coaching staff are going to build me and form me into a really good player, and my team-mates are going to help me mature.”

Celtic have also bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Ivorian striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo from Slovakian outfit Dunajska Streda, and the acquisition of the 18-year-old Weah is likely to increase competition for places up front.

The Bhoys are currently top of the table in the Scottish Premiership, level with Rangers on points but they have a game in hand.
