Mourinho Taunts Klopp By Saying “Trophies Matter”

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has fired the first shot ahead of the high-profile clash this Sunday against Liverpool.

The Portuguese boss has set the ball rolling by saying that the investments made by Liverpool will mean that they have to win titles to prove their mettle. Jurgen Klopp’s men have been on a footballing high this season but Mourinho believes that “trophies matter” at the end of the day.

The Reds spent a lavishing £177 million on summer signings and Mourinho feels that winning trophies is now a must for the Anfield outfit. “I think trophies matter yeah, especially when you have the potential to fight for the trophies and especially when you clearly say the objective is to win the trophy. I think sometimes to say just to say is not very intelligent.”

Jose has challenged Klopp’s team by saying Liverpool has the potential to win the title and should do so. “But when you have the potential you have nothing to hide, you know from day one that your potential and your desire has a relation with the potential, because to say we want to win everyone can say that. Another thing is to say in a conscious way in relation to the potential you have. I don’t read much but I think Jurgen told already that their objective is to win the Premier League.”

Whether Liverpool get motivated by these instigating comments or come under more pressure to prove themselves remains to be seen.
