Kovac tells PSG to look elsewhere

Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac has said told French champions Paris-Saint Germain to look elsewhere, as the latter shared their interest in signing midfielder Renato Sanches.

PSG are enduring some midfield problems leading up to their Champions League last-16 tie against Manchester United and latter stages of this season. Adrien Rabiot has fallen out with the club, while Marco Verratti seems to have seriously injured his ankle. Lassana Diarra is mulling over his immediate retirement plans.

As such, they were linked with Zenit’s Leandro Paredes and Bayern midfielder Renato Sanches. However, Kovac insists he has no plans to let the 21-year-old Portugal international leave.

He was talking to the reporters ahead of Bayern’s game against Stuttgart. The Croat said: “I made it clear that Renato cannot go, even though PSG was and still is very interested.

“He’s doing very well right now, I do not want to give him up. I know PSG has one or two midfield problems, but that’s not our problem.

“I’m very happy with Renato, and I’m convinced he will play a lot of games in the second half of the season.

“We will need each player, we saw in the first half of the season. If players fall, we cannot downsize our squad.”

Sanches has rediscovered some sort of form this season after a dreadful loan spell at Swansea City last season. Kovac would be hoping that the youngster return to his best form sooner rather than later.
