Mickael Cuisance has swapped Borussia Monchengladbach for rivals Bayern Munich.
Monchengladbach confirmed on Saturday that they had sold French midfielder Mickael Cuisance to Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.
“After two seasons with Borussia, Mickael Cuisance will leave to join Bayern Munich with immediate effect,” a Gladbach statement read.
Whilst, the record champions announced on Friday night that the France U-20 midfielder, who made 11 Bundesliga appearances last season, had undergone a medical in Munich and was set to join the club in a deal which is believed to be in the region of €10 million.
The 20-year-old had a stunning start to life in North Rhine-Westphalia and was quickly earmarked as one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting wonderkids, making 26 appearances in his first full season with the club.
His signing comes after Bayern confirmed that Brazil international Philippe Coutinho will join the club on a season-long loan from Barcelona, pending a medical.
“Michael’s strengths are in his possession of the football,” Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic told the club website. “He has a great technique, a strong left foot and a great mentality.”
The Bavarians have been on the hunt for a new midfielder throughout the summer transfer window, shortlisting the likes of Manchester City club-record signing Rodri and Espanyol’s Marc Roca. And although Bayern Munich have now signed Cuisance, the Frenchman is more likely to be an alternative to wantaway star Renato Sanches.
