Roberto Martinez slaps big price-tag on Belgium’s head
Everton have told interested parties that they will have to cough up £55million if they want to sign striker Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgium international, who scored once again at the weekend, has been linked with moves to Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.
However, the three potential suitors could now be put off after hearing Martinez‘s price-tag.
The 22-year-old was wanted over the summer by United, but Louis van Gaal was put off after the Toffees demanded £45, but now they are demanding £10m more after another fine start to the campaign.
Price-tag Revealed
After Everton‘s 1-1 draw with West Ham United, Martinez was questioned about Lukaku and his value, and he responded with: “After today, [he is worth] £55m!
“The real problem is when the chairman or owner of the club says we need to cash in on two or three players. That is not the situation at Everton.
“[Lukaku] wants to break records. He had in his eye Tony Cottee in 1993 being the last player to score 20 goals in a calendar year.
“He achieved that and he scored 21 and keeps going. He wants to improve and be the best in the world.”
