Ferguson upset about Moyes sacking

Speaking at a charity launch in Manchester, former boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, spoke of his anguish at the way David Moye’s sacking was handled.

Manchester United’s handling of the situation could cost them dearly when finalising Moyes’s exit terms. The League Managers association have already spoken of their disappointment, commenting that United behaved in a ‘unprofessional manner’.

The league Managers association are understood to not be commenting any further until Moyes’s compensation deal is agreed. Ferguson belives that United delayed the sacking of Moyes to save the club millions of pounds in compensation. David Moyes had told his friends that this was motivated by a clause in his contract that says failure to reach the top four will limit his pay-off to £4.5 million pounds.

However, Manchester United insist that they have proceeded with the sacking the right way.  A club spokesman said: ‘We do not accept that it was handled in an unprofessional manner. The decision was not taken until late Monday night and was communicated face-to-face first thing on Tuesday morning.’
