According to a national reporter, Fernando Torres’ time at Chelsea is all-but over after they complete the signing of Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.

Darren Lewis of the Daily Mirror, has been speaking to talkSPORT about the Spaniard’s future, and he claims that due to their new Summer signing, Torres is expected to be sold in order to raise more funds and clear space in the side.

With Samuel Eto’o already leaving the club on a free, it’s also widely reported that Demba Ba may join the duo out of the club, with more attacking arrivals expected, but Lewis believes it’s time for Torres to leave Stamford Bridge.

“I think he knows that his future at Stamford Bridge is all but over,” Lewis told the Transfer Tavern.

“The likes of Inter Milan have taken a look at him, as have Atletico Madrid.

“[A return to Atletico] would be a wonderful homecoming for him and it may well be that he will feed off the confidence and love from the club that didn’t want lose him in the first place.

“As far as Torres is concerned, I don’t expect to see him in a Chelsea shirt next season. I think he’ll go elsewhere and I think he’ll take a pay cut to do so.”
