Having lost Lukas Podolski to Inter Milan on loan and Danny Welbeck being hit with an injury, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal are said to be leading the race for Roma’s front man Mattia Destro. Arsenal are desperate for a striker as Olivier Giroud is the club’s only fit striker.
Liverpool and Chelsea are rumoured to be heavily interested in the striker but Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri revealed that Arsenal are in the driving seat and are set to hold talks with the Italian this month over a possible move to the Emirates.
Talking to Sky Sports Italia, Destro said: “I am a Roma player right now.”
“My position is that I am a striker, I want to do well, to play and to score.”
