Chelsea’s summer signing, Eden Hazard, has revealed that he nearly joined Tottenham in the summer but was put off when they failed to qualify for the Champions League.
Tottenham did finish fourth in the Premier League but lost their Champions League slot because their London rivals, Chelsea, won the actual competition.
The Belgium international also admitted that he rejected advances from both Manchester clubs during the summer as well.
Hazard said: ‘It’s true that Tottenham tempted me because it was a young team which was third in the league,’
‘Unfortunately, the end of the season did not go well. They did not reach the Champions League, which tipped the balance.’
The 21-year-old has impressed this season so far and has helped Chelsea have an unbeaten start that sees them sitting at the top of the Premier League.
