Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that it was a mistake selling midfielder Mesut Ozil to Arsenal in the Summer.
Many fans were left shocked when Arsene Wenger spent over £40million on just one player on transfer deadline day, but it was a signing that turned The Gunners’ fortunes around.
The German international joined the North London club after they had started off the season badly, but now they are sitting top of the Premier League and Ozil has been key in most of their matches.
The decision to sell Ozil was made after Madrid captured Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur, but Ancelotti has since admitted that he shouldn’t have sold the German.
“I think we made a mistake when we gave him the possibility to leave the club,” said Ancelotti.
“However, we have fantastic strikers and don’t need a back-up after Higuain’s departure.”
