Mauro Icardi believes he made the right decision to turn down a move to Premier League clubs, Liverpool and Chelsea.
The forward was heavily linked with a £28 million pound move to England during the summer window, but the player himself opted to stay in Italy.
He told Gazzetta dell Sport: “On the renewal I don’t know anything yet. But I chose Inter, and I want to stay here.
“I want to stay because here we have a desire to build something. Because Milan is a great city, because the President [Erik Thohir] has very clear ideas and because… because I want to stay here!
“This is a new team, and a young one. Winning will take time, but that’s what we all want to do.”
It now remains to be seen whether Liverpool or Chelsea revive their interest in the near future, particularly if Icardi’s contract extension encounters any issues.
