Inter Milan’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio has confirmed that the club has made an official approach for Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku has long been linked to a move to Inter Milan and the Belgian wants to leave Old Trafford after being told he will not be a starter under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer next season.

Many expected Lukaku to have an impressive 18/19 season following a great World Cup last summer. However, the striker scored only 15 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions.

Manchester United paid £75 million to land Lukaku from Everton and they want regain that amount through his transfer to Inter.

Ausilio said that Inter have had a meeting with Manchester United regarding Lukaku. He said: “We had a meeting with Manchester United for Lukaku. It was an official approach between two important clubs. We’ll see what happens.

“All the players we’re following are targets we’ve agreed with Antonio Conte. We want to satisfy his request within certain financial parameters.”

It’ll be interesting to see whether Manchester United agree whatever offer the Nerazzurri have made for Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku may have had a poor season with Manchester United but his performances with Belgium are enough to suggest that he is still a brilliant striker.

Inter’s premier striker Mauro Icardi hasn’t been in the best of form and there’s a chance he might leave the club. Hence, Inter are hell bent on landing Lukaku this summer. Antonio Conte has been eager to sign Lukaku for a while now and it seems, he will finally get his man.
