Italian goal machine “laughs off” reports linking him to Chelsea
Lazio and Italy forward Ciro Immobile has “laughed off” rumours linking him with a January move to Chelsea, according to the player’s agent..
When asked whether his client would be moving to Stamford Bridge or the Chinese Super League, representative Marco Sommello told Tuttomercatoweb Radio that the pair “had a good laugh together over that, including the Chelsea rumour.”
Reports in England last week said that Antonio Conte was keen on bringing Immobile to London to partner Alvaro Morata in attack, but it appears that the rumours are unfounded.
It’s no secret that Conte wants another striker after the club failed to bring in Fernando Llorente during the summer, and he knows the Lazio star well from his time with the Italian national team.
Since moving back to Serie A following unsuccessful spells in Germany and Spain, Immobile has rediscovered his best form with 48 goals in 68 games, including a loan spell with Torino.
It’s at the Stadio Olimpico that he has really flourished though, and so far this season he has an unprecedented 13 league goals from just 9 matches.
The Italian side supposedly want €60million for him, and although Chelsea are reportedly unwilling to pay that much they could offer players in exchange according to the Metro.
Immobile signed a new contract with Lazio, but in the current market and given his current form, you would still expect there to be plenty of suitors for him come January and the summer.
