Jose Mourinho Points Blame Towards Players After Wolves Draw

Jose Mourinho was left frustrated by his players once again on Tuesday night.

Tottenham Hotspur drew 1-1 against Wolves despite taking the lead early on.

As is characteristic of a Mourinho-led-team, Spurs sat back and defended their slim lead only to be caught late by Romain Saiss’s 86th-minute header. Mourinho suggested that the Tottenham players lacked “ambition” and “desire” to get all three points.

“One point against Wolves normally wouldn’t be a bad result because they are a strong opponent,” Mourinho told Sky Sports. ”But scoring in the first minute and having 89 minutes to score more, there’s a sense of feeling frustrated.

“I know the way I prepare the team, I know all that and don’t want to say much more than that. We didn’t have that ambition or desire to go for more. You know the way I work.”

This result meant Spurs only collected two points out of their last four games and missed out on the chance to move up to third in the table. Now, they are fifth with Manchester City closing up behind them fast.

Mourinho’s tactical nuance made them strong title-contenders early on but everything seems very fickle right now.
