The midfielder is reportedly eager to sign a new contract with the club

Juan Mata wants to sign a new Man United deal in the near future.

According to reports today, the midfielder is desperate to stay at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future and is hoping to put pen to paper on a new deal soon.

He has even spoken to manager Jose Mourinho about the possibility of signing on at the club for a few more years but there is still yet to be a concrete offer on the table for the Spaniard to sign.

It’s not like he isn’t deserving of one – Mata has been one of the Red Devil’s best players so far this season, despite many believing that Mourinho would be reluctant to play him.

Sold him at Chelsea

The Special One previously let go of the midfielder when they were both at Chelsea and there have been fears that the same could happen at Old Trafford.

For the time being though, it seems as though the 28-year old might be a key part of the plans at United, with the player starting most of the club’s games so far this campaign and putting in a series of good performances.

With the player himself desperate to commit his future to the club and with Mourinho now seemingly keen to keep him, it could only be a matter of time before he does sign a new deal. His current contract has two years left on it.
