Kevin De Bruyne feels top European teams fear Manchester City as they are billed as one of the top contenders for this season’s Champions League.
Despite suffering an early hiccup at the hands of Lyon, Pep Guardiola’s side got back to winning ways with a commanding performance over Hoffenheim in the next match.
The English champions demonstrated their intent to win the title with some fiery attacking football against Shakhtar Donetsk in the last game. Pep Guardiola later described the first half performance as their best show on the pitch till date.
De Bruyne spent more than two months on the sidelines after suffering a ligament damage and made his first start in the 3-0 crushing of the Ukrainian club. The Belgian midfielder said, “I think they [other clubs] are wary of us anyway.
“We lost against Lyon so it was important to recover and now we want to be first in the group. There are still three games to go and we have work still to do.
“We just try to win every game and see where that takes us but there are about 10 teams who could win it.”
“I prefer to play than be on the sidelines, that’s for sure.
“I’ve worked hard to get back as quickly as possible and then you try to get back with the rhythm of the team. It went well with the injury. There were not a lot of complications. I’ve worked hard to be back and I’m happy to be here.”
