Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has said that the club is feeling the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo. Real Madrid lost 1-0 to CSKA Moscow thanks to an early goal from Nikola Vlasic. This was Real’s first Champions League to a Russian club in 17 years. Before yesterday, they lost 2-0 to another Moscow club, Lokomotiv Moscow in October, 2001.

This match also marked the third successive game that Real Madrid haven’t won and haven’t scored. Navas said that Cristiano Ronaldo left a huge gap at Real Madrid which is hard to bridge. He said, “Cristiano left the bar very high at Real Madrid. You cannot cover the sun with a finger. He made many goals while he was here, but it’s already the past and we cannot live in the past. ”

Navas added, “We are sad because they had one chance and took it.  We made some stellar chances, but could not get it in. In every game you want to score goals and we had some chances to do so. We were unlucky .We want to start scoring again in the coming games.”

The defeat sees Real at second place in the group. CSKA Moscow lead the group with four points while Real Madrid and Roma are at three points. Real are ahead of Roma because of head to head points. Roma registered their first win of the Champions League by thrashing Viktoria Plzen 5-0. Edin Dzeko scored a hat-trick while Cengiz Under and Justin Kluiveart chipped in with a goal each.

Real Madrid’s performances have been pretty poor in the past week. They were thrashed 3-0 by Sevilla before drawing 0-0 against Atletico Madrid. Now, things have gone even bad for them after losing to CSKA Moscow.

Los Blancos next take on Deportivo Alaves on Saturday. Their next Champions League fixture is against Viktoria Plzen nearly three weeks later.
