Arsenal’s injury crisis has deepened with the news that Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal are both doubts for Wednesday’s game against Southampton.
Monreal, who started at left-back on Saturday, was subbed off in the first-half after banging his knee, and was replaced by Gibbs, who was meant to be rested ahead of Wednesday’s game.
However, Gibbs had to come on and then later picked up a knock himself, leaving the club without a single fit left-back.
The Gunners host Southampton on Wednesday and could have to play Mathieu Flamini at left-back, a position where he has played before for the club.
After the West Brom victory, Arsene Wenger had this to say on the injuries: “Gibbs struggled a little bit with an ankle problem and Monreal with a knee problem. Oxlade-Chamberlain also had a knee problem.
“I don’t know. We have to see how they recover on Monday. We have Oxlade-Chamberlain, Monreal and Gibbs who have knocks but I don’t know how bad it is.”
