Liverpool have entered the race to sign James Milner on a free this summer. The midfielder is also being tracked by Arsenal.
Milner will be out of contract in summer and he has refused to sign a new deal at the Etihad previously due to his lack of playing time. He is currently playing regularly for the first team but reports claim he is still concerned that he will soon fall down the pecking order at the club.
Boss Manuel Pellegrini is confident that he can get the England man to put pen to paper on a new deal but Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool are now waiting in the wings to sign him in case he once again refuses to do so. If he doesn’t sign a new contract, then Milner will be able to leave for nothing at the end of the season.
