Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler believes that Harry Kane isn’t the best striker in the Premier League. Kane scored the winner and provided an assist in England’s Nations League win over Croatia on Sunday. The win saw England progressing to the Nations League Finals. Following the match, England manager Gareth Southgate said that Kane is perhaps the best striker in the world.
However, Fowler believes that Sergio Aguero and Mohamed Salah are better than Kane. Last season, Kane was second in the Premier League scoring charts with 30 goals, two less than Salah and 9 more than Aguero.
Fowler said, “I don’t think he is (the best in the world). I know why Gareth’s saying that because obviously he’s just won the game. He’s mentioned being a great leader and he’s great in the dressing room and the lads love being with him. But in terms of being a top-class striker, there’s no doubt about that.
But in terms of being the best goalscorer, I think there may be a few other top-class players out there who are slightly better. I don’t even think he’s the best in the Premier League if I’m being honest. I think Aguero is an outstanding finisher. Obviously Salah as well you who is a wonderful finisher as well. But I know why Gareth said it.”
Kane has scored 6 goals in the Premier League this season so far. Along with seven others including Salah, he is joint-fourth in the Premier League scoring charts. Aguero is currently the leading scorer in the Premier League with 8 goals. Kane will hope to add more goals as Tottenham Hotspur have two very tough matches ahead. Spurs take on Chelsea on Saturday before a Champions League match against Inter Milan on the 29th.
