Ryan Gravenberch’s unwavering Stand: No apology to Koeman in sight

Ryan Gravenberch, Liverpool’s midfielder, has refused to apologize to senior Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman following his controversial refusal to join the under-21 international squad last month. Gravenberch’s main concern was adapting into life at his new club, which led to a brewing feud with Koeman.

“I don’t think Gravenberch is there. That really surprises me,” Dutch Football expert Mike Vermijl stated.

“Ronald Koeman is really a people manager. Instead of 26, you can also simply put 27 on the provisional list. This would send a signal to Gravenberch: hey boy, keep it up!

“Maybe Koeman still blames him for that (the refusal to play for Jong Oranje). Perhaps Nigel de Jong (technical director of the KNVB) has not yet reached an agreement with Gravenberch about possible excuses”.

Gravenberch has not represented the Netherlands since his ÂŁ36.5 million move from Bayern Munich to Liverpool, and this will continue into November, with Koeman keeping him out of the preliminary team for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against the Republic of Ireland and Gibraltar.

While Koeman expects Gravenberch to apologize before returning to the national team, it appears the midfielder is determined to stay firm.

“I just don’t think Gravenberch is going to apologise. A player should also be able to say that he prefers to acclimatise at his new club over the Dutch Juniors.” Gravenberch has hit the ground running since making the switch to Merseyside.

Gravenberch’s performances for Liverpool have been nothing short of brilliant despite his international absence. His spectacular performances, like as his recent 5-1 thumping of Toulouse in the Europa League, show his growing importance to the Reds.

While Gravenberch continues to shine at Anfield, the conflict with Koeman looms over his international future, keeping fans and experts guessing about the next chapter in this protracted story.
