But now the £30million valuation is falling – and Liverpool also understand that Markovic is keen to come.
Liverpool feared Chelsea would come in late with a move for Markovic, but the word from the player’s camp is that he prefers Anfield.
Now Rodgers hopes a price can be agreed fast, with Liverpool’s chances set for a boost if Benfica can find a replacement.
