Liverpool target to stay at current club
Liverpool might have to reconsider their options after Atletico Madrid’s chief insisted that their star Sime Vrsaljko, one of Liverpool’s targets, will stay at his current club.
With the ability to play on both sides, the 25-year-old, who played for Sassuolo from 2014-2016 before joining Atletico last year, was on Jurgen Klopp’s scheme of things.
Even Napoli seems to be interested in roping in the right-back, but according to the Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool had pipped them and held preliminary talks with Atletico chiefs. However, the president of the Spanish club himself came out to clarify.
“Vrsaljko is an Atletico Madrid player and I expect him to remain an Atletico Madrid player in 2018 too,” said Enrique Cerezo on Radio CRC.
“We have always had a good rapport with all clubs, but one mustn’t misunderstand a good rapport for being the desire to negotiate for a player. I speak to De Laurentiis about cinema!”
