Reds prepared to offer more for Brazilian

Liverpool are ready to increase their bid for Shakhtar Donetsk striker Alex Teixeira, according to reports.

The Reds have entered the race, alongside Chelsea, to sign Teixeira earlier in the week after it was revealed that chief exec Ian Ayre had flown out to Florida in order to hold talks with the Ukrainian club.

Shakhtar‘s first-team have been out in America for a winter training camp, and Ayre thought it would be the perfect opportunity to talk to them about the availability of the striker.

Teixeira Ready to Move

Teixeira has recently admitted that he’s ready to leave Shakhtar in order to further his career, but it looked all-but certain that he was set to join Chelsea, with a transfer fee reportedly already agreed and a contract already offered.

However that is not the case and Liverpool are now in with a real chance of landing the 26-year-old.

Jurgen Klopp has admitted the Reds need to sign a striker due to serious injury problems mounting up at Anfield, and according to reports this morning, they are ready to launch a fresh new and improved bid for the Brazilian.

New and Improved Offer

Liverpool’s first offer was knocked back, and that was believed to be worth around ÂŁ25million, but this second offer could be in the region of ÂŁ30m, which is what the Ukraine side are looking for.

Despite the ongoing negotiations with Liverpool, Chelsea are still confident they can beat their Premier League rivals to the signing and still feel a deal can be done this month.

This is despite the striker suffering a hamstring injury in training just hours after Liverpool’s first formal bid.
