Liverpool urged to sign Defoe

Former Liverpool midfielder David Thompson believes the club should look towards Jermain Defoe to solve their offensive problems.

Mario Balotelli has managed just two goals since his move from AC Milan in the summer while fellow new signing Rickie Lambert has yet to open his Liverpool account.

And Thompson took to twitter to let manager Brendan Rodgers know what he believes to be the best solution when he tweeted that he would love to see Defoe move back to the Premier League from MLS side Toronto.

Defoe had a solid first season in America, scoring 11 goals in 19 games. He has admitted his future is uncertain and he could return to the Premier League.

“I can’t say whats going to happen because I really don’t know.” The former Spurs man told reporters in the states.

“But I like Toronto. It’s a really nice city and it’s amazing when the sun’s out.”

“Obviously the football’s different. The Premier League is the best in the world.”
